Healing thoughts and reducing the spread of COVID-19

Dear Patients,

This Holiday Season is unlike anything we have ever seen in the past and hopefully will never see again. With a quarter of a million people that have died of this invisible enemy, I see this as an all-out state of war. Each and every one of us has a patriotic duty to do our part to reduce needless loss of life and suffering.

COVID-19 cases are on the rise again, and ***small indoor gatherings*** are felt to be playing a significant role. And with Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner, people are planning just the kind of gatherings that the authorities fear will trigger another wave of new infections.

A common question I get asked these days is, "if my daughter/son's family tests a couple of days before coming here, will I be safe?" The heartbreaking short answer is, NO.

For those at risk of serious complications from this disease, there is no substitute for a 2-week quarantine prior to coming into contact with a vulnerable loved one. As they say, if you are going to the grocery store, it is not quarantining.

Here is an extremely useful and detailed article from the CDC detailing healthy and harmful behaviors to help all of us get through this Holiday Season safely. Please copy and paste the following link in your browser:

There are many who feel isolated and deprived of celebrating, as usual, this year, but please remember that your actions will save your own or someone else's life. If we were in a traditional war situation, wouldn't we be willing to do anything to win? Hang tight folks, this too shall pass. In the meantime, we will do everything we can to save the life of a fellow countryman.

Have a wonderful, healthy, and safe Holiday Season!

Dr. Padma
